Discussion

  • Friendly language upfront as part of UCSD sustainability leadership. Keep to one page.

  • Coaching, pre selection and post orientation with vendors to help them out. Work with Real Estate, UCEN on this.

  • Just list top goals and how tenants help us meet our UC Sustainable Practices Policy.

  • For P3 and large projects they will take time to read whole policy and have resources to respond. Smaller projects won’t; odds are Real Estate staff will be filling this out.

  • UC Sustainability Policy will now be included in all RFP’s. Signature line for them to say they read it in sustainability questionnaire from Real Estate Project Manager and for tenant/leasee.

  • When give out questionnaire? When receive RFP’s and after they are chosen. More to see where they are with sustainability so we can help them improve. Want honest answers. “This will not affect your eligibility to be chosen.” How can we help you……

  • Add in sustainable food procurement policy. See UCEN vendor form from Hugh to add to document.

  • Hugh: in sample lease include whole UC sustainability policy as addendum.

  • After selected, UCEN has orientation meeting to go over how they operate or not. Add in compliance and sustainability overviews.

  • Need to develop guidelines for FM AND UCEN (as most of their build-outs are $300-$800K.)

  • Needs to be voluntary with friendly tone as most projects will be under $1M. (Then a separate document for P3 large construction.) Especially guidance for food and beverage to help them meet sustainability goals.
